Towards Gray

Gray is my favorite color - it's elegant and beautifully understated. So I called the album Towards Gray because I felt like this was the first time something I wrote was approaching good.

To record this album, I spent about eight months learning audio engineering, doing ear training, and trying to understand the basics of music theory. Some of that paid off, quite a bit did not. For example, while it sounds better than my first album, most songs are painfully long because I haven't yet discovered the magic of self-editing.

Musically, I discovered how much I love the sound of a Les Paul (through a great plugin I found) and an amped Rhodes. And so, the album is awash in guitar and, to a lesser extent, electic piano.
